There’s good reason why one of Melbourne’s favourite models is getting compared to Ursula Andress and Bianca Jagger and it’s not just because of her Bond girl sexiness!
Monika Clarke was born in Swan Hill Victoria where she grew up in a Christian Family home as the youngest of 4. Her family was quite poor so they lived in a ghetto area but her parents were grateful for everything they had. For years she grew up on a stone fruit farm working long hours picking and packing fruit. These life experiences contributed to make Monika the loveable, down to earth and fun person that she is today.
Monika was signed to Chadwick Models at 15 but didn’t really start to model until she moved to Melbourne at 17.
Monika was a tomboy growing up. Makeup and dresses were never on her mind. She loved her sports and still does. She played soccer, basketball, futsal (indoor soccer), netball and she is a trained sprinter.
Everything she knows to date about fashion and styling she picked up through modelling, at 21 she is one of Melbourne’s favourite models and humbly says “she is still learning”.
Monika’s first job was for a Suzuki swift TVC. Since then she have worked for labels such as;
Everlast
Diana Ferrari
Connie Simonetti
Wrangler
Kookai
Roger David
Brooks
Chrysler
Chadstone shopping centre
Monika was also the 2012 Moto GP ambassador for Phillip Island and a dealette on deal or no deal for a few years.
Describe your first kiss?
My first kiss was so awkward. We both kept bumping teeth. Fair to say I didn’t want to try a kiss again for quite some time.
Outside of modelling, what other passions/hobbies do you have?
Outside of modelling I love my workouts. From a simple walk around the tan or a hard training session with my trainer Lachlan Clarke (no relation) I also love to cook. So I experiment with recipes when I get the chance.
Where is your favourite place to travel and/or place you’d most like to go and visit?
I have been back and forth to LA and I fall more inlove each time. I absolutely want to travel to Malta. My mother was born there and I hear such beautiful things about her home country.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen on a shoot?
I’m not sure about seen but one of the wierdest things I had done, was being wrapped up in cling wrap and spray painted as if I was a canvas. The shots looked very unique and creative.
What’s been your career highlight to date?
I have so many highlights throughout my career but one I really enjoyed was working down at weeribee zoo. I was standing on the back of a Ute in an open paddock full of zebras, rhinos and giraffes surronding me and coming so close I could pat them. It was incredible.

I like modest grounded models like this. Good on her! I hope she does well for herself.
