Describe your first kiss?
I haven’t had one yet…
You’re a leading talent in the PR world, why PR?
Being around my Mum, Judy Romano, I was exposed to a range of different events from an early age. I thought it was perfectly normal to be sipping champagne with Paris Hilton at Boutique nightclub. There are many parts of my job I don’t enjoy but the feeling I get at the end of a successful event or campaign is a high that I find myself continuously chasing until everyone is satisfied. You will rarely find me ‘just chillin’.
What’s your favourite annual event and what makes it so special?
Future Music Festival, without question. Future Entertainment was my first ever client, they believed I had something to offer when I was starting out at the age of 17 and I have stayed loyal to them ever since. The event isn’t about french champagne and designer labels. It’s plastic cups and denim shorts but we still manage to get all the A-listers there begging for more year after year and there is ALWAYS a drama leaving with the adrenaline pumping through your body right to the end.
What’s the biggest drama you’ve had to deal with during an event and how did you solve it?
I can not disclose all these details!
However
One disaster did involve taking a group of well know celebrities to the Dubai World Cup on behalf of Emirates. Lets just say that everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong! From the camera crew being prohibited to fly with their equipment, celebrities having to eat a range of camel delicacies including camelburgers and milkshakes to hairstylists perming the talents hair and a few ..errr…hangovers to mend! There was never a dull moment and all theguests were dying to go back to Dubai!
Who’s your dream client?
I have my dream client already. The Fiat Chrysler Group (Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Chrysler)…. I love everything these brands stand for. The CEO is Veronica Johns and I love working for a company that respects that women can be CEO’s and extremely successful in business. We can’t let all the men have the power ladies. And I wouldn’t trade in my Jeep Wrangler for anything in the world.
Plus, the Jeep Porstea Polo is also becoming the ultimate summer event.
If you could work from any city in the world, which city would you choose?
Melbourne, I’m a big believer in ‘it’s the people that make a city, not the place itself’. I wouldn’t trade my friends and family in for any place in the world.
Yes, Sydney may be a bit prettier but good luck with formulating a memorable dinner conversation 😉
I am more than happy right here, right now.
What does it take to throw a rockin’ party?
Its like Nonna Romano’s cooking – ‘a little bit of oil , a pinch of salt of some basil and walaaaa the perfect meal’
For me it’s “a rockstar guest-list, some French Champagne, a little bit of entertainment and something to take home and tweet about!”
Coconut water or Vodka?
Or… you could combine both and you would have Coco Vodka! HEAVEN!
What other passions do you have outside of PR?
I have many passions.
I love the feeling I get after a big workout at ONE Fitness in Brighton, my trainer is x army and HARDCORE. I absolutely hate his guts at the time but will find I’m bouncing off the walls all day. No pain no gain.
For some pampering I go to Heading Out for Melbourne’s best hair care, styling, mani/pedi and a massage of course.
I love going out for dinner and drinking chilli margaritas with friends after work. My favourite spot is FOG in Greville Street, Prahran.
If I’m getting out of Melbourne, my favourite destination in Australia is Rae’s on Watego’s in Byron Bay, it is the best place to go to switch your phone off and completely wind down.
It is heaven on earth. The seafood Restaurant has the most breathtaking view and the day spa is by far the best in Australia. I always come home feeling so healthy and re energised
On the weekends, if I find the time I LOVE playing golf with my Dad and my brother but golf is a full day commitment.
How much golf do you play?
I play golf once a month and once a year my Dad will take me overseas on a golf holiday which is the ultimate. The best golfing destinations so far have been Hawaii, Bintan Island, Fiji, Dubai, Bali and believe it or not the south of Italy.
Have you ever competed?
I play in two pro-ams each year. I actually won the last Porstea Pro Am : )
What do you do when you leave the office?
If I don’t have any social commitments after work (which is rare..let’s be honest)
I run.
The only way for me to unwind after a day on my arse staring at the computer screen is to go for a run, blast some tunes and sweat out the days stresses.
THEN
The only way to unwind from a run is…red wine.
